Owners of historic buildings that have suffered from damage or neglect in the past frequently wish to restore the architectural character of the façades and increase the value of their properties. Some owners may be required to inspect and restore façades due to Local Law 11. Towne House Restorations has vast experience in recreating missing or deteriorated stone or terra cotta ornaments, such as window and door surrounds, cornices, balustrades, balconies, stairs and other features. Our work is carried out in accordance with the building owner, architect of record, and local landmark preservation society.

SITE SURVEYS

A vital component of a well-planned restoration project, our site surveys include identification of dimensions, configurations and unusual conditions, and investigation of original construction to determine methods of supports for new units.

SUBMITTALS

Presented to meet exacting standards of architects, owners and review agencies: shop drawings, specifications, product data, samples of colors and finishes, full-size models, test reports.

SHOP DRAWINGS AND ENGINEERING

Shop drawings showing the location of each unit on the building; dimensions, joints and attachment details for stone installation. Structural engineering can be provided where specified.

ARCHITECTURAL SCULPTURE

Full-size models of custom architectural features based on drawings or historic photos. Patterns for restoration castings developed from site survey information or fragments of original stone.

MOLD-MAKING

A mold can be taken from an original broken unit, or existing elements elsewhere on a building. New patterns can be produced when no original unit exists, from architectural drawings and historic photographs, Towne House Restorations makes detailed shop drawings and plaster patterns of architectural elements before molding and casting units. The same process is employed for newly designed ornaments.

TIMELY PRODUCTION

THR coordinates with the contractor's sequence of work on the building, which avoids costly downtime.

Welding

All internal frames for GFRC panels are fabricated in shop by a certified welder.
