GFRC is a high quality, lightweight concrete material typically chosen for non-load-bearing architectural elements such a cornices, balconies, brackets, sculptural panels, and other ornamental features. It is an excellent substitute for terra cotta or limestone. GFRC is made from fine sand, Portland cement, acrylic polymer, pigments and alkali-resistant glass fibers, all in compliance with specifications of the Precast Concrete Institute. Its weight ranges from 10-15 lbs. per square foot of surface area, depending on the fabrication method. Cast Stone and GFRC are frequently used in combination on a building as complementary materials that can be made with identical finishes.
